Keith E. Lydick, 53, Engineer

Keith E. Lydick, age 53, of Lorain, died on Thursday May 10, 2001 in the Emergency Room of Community Health Partners and Surgical Center, Lorain, following a sudden illness.

He was born on November 24, 1947 in Amherst, and has lived in Lorain his entire life.

He was a graduate of Admiral King High School. He also attended Lorain Community College.

He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, 2 overseas bars, and a Sharp Shooter Medal for M-14 and M-16 rifles.

Mr. Lydick was employed as an engineer tech 2 in the engineering dept. for the City of Avon Lake.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church. He was a member of the Paper, Allied Industrial, Chemical and Energy Workers International Union Local #50836, where he had served as secretary.

He was an active life member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #451 of Lorain, where he served as commander for two terms. He was also a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Past Commanders Association of Ohio and the Lorain County Council of the Veterans of Foreign Wars where he was to be inducted as the commander on May 11, 2001. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #30 of Lorain and the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #3. He enjoyed anything affiliated with cars.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years: Olga (nee Terebeckij), son: Christopher K. Lydick, of Smyrna, Tennessee, daughter: Jennifer Ann Allenbrand, of San Diego, CA, and 1 grandson, and his mother, Lois Jean Lydick, of Lorain.

He was preceded in death by his father: Howard in 1979.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 14, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where Veterans Memorial Service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by Divine Liturgy at 11:30 at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, E. 31st Street and Charleston Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. Peter Tomas, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township, Ohio.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 451 and American Legion Post #30 of Lorain will conduct full military honors.
