Geraldine L. Phillips, 91, Volunteer
Geraldine L. (Gerry & Nana) Phillips, 91 (nee Allwine) of Lorain died on Friday evening, May 18, 2001 at Community Health Partners & Surgical Center in Lorain, OH following a brief illness.She was born October 11, 1909 in Lorain, OH and lived in Lorain for 60 years, Amherst for 30 years and most recently in Florida. She spent her younger years at her parents' home on Kelley's Island where her father worked as a barber. She was a graduate of Lorain High School, class of 1927 and she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Phillips was a member of the Heritage Presbyterian Church in Lorain. She was a volunteer for the Lutheran Presbyterian Food Cooperative, active in both the Lorain and Amherst Republican Clubs, was a voting poll booth worker, served as a gray lady at both Brecksville and Crile Veterans Hospitals, and a Red Cross Volunteer.
She is survived by her daughter, Joan C. Schieferstein of Palm Bay, FL, her son W. Terry Phillips of Amherst, OH, 8grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Phillips is preceded in death by her husband Harry S. Phillips on Nov. 8, 1994, and her parents Gerald C. and Nora Ellen (nee Mitchell) Allwine.
Friends may call at Schwartz-Spence & Boyer Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, OH, on Monday May 21, 2001 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Monday evening, May 21, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. at Schwartz-Spence & Boyer Home for Funerals in Lorain, OH, with Rev. James E. Smucker, pastor of Heritage Presbyterian Church officiating.
Geraldine L. Phillips will be buried at Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Amherst Township, OH at a private family graveside service at a later date.
