Harold A. Ackerman, 59, Logistics Consultant
Harold A. Ackerman, 59, of Avon Lake, passed away Thursday, May 24 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center, Lorain. He was born December 19, 1941 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and moved to Avon Lake 22 years ago coming from Cleveland and Germansville, Pennsylvania. Harold was a 1961 graduate of Shaw High School in Cleveland. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1964. Harold was employed as a Logistics Consultant for Distribution Data, Inc. for the past twelve years. He enjoyed doing handiwork around the home and gardening and golfing. He was a collector of trading pins.Harold is survived by his wife of thirty seven years, Elaine (nee Freeman) whom he married April 11, 1964; a son, Gregory A. of Parma; a daughter, Michelle E. Covell of Fredericktown, MD; a grandson and granddaughter; three brothers, Ronald Snyder of Richmond Heights, Arthur Ackerman of New Hampshire and Kenneth Yanda of Cleveland; three sisters, Jeannette Deskins of Florida, and Evelynne Cantanese and Elizabeth Yanda both of Cleveland; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold James Ackerman and Etta (nee Johnston) Yanda and his stepfather, Kenneth Yanda.
A memorial service will be held at the State Road Community Church of the Nazarene, 8600 State Rd. Parma on Saturday June 2 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Wailman Hagar will officiate.
