Harold Robert Dietrich, 63, Corporal in US Marine Corps
Harold "Hal" Robert Dietrich, 63, of Avon Lake passed away suddenly Thursday, May 24. He was born August 18, 1937 in Cleveland and resided in a number of communities on the West Side before moving to Avon Lake a year ago. He was a graduate of St. Ignatius High School and received an associate degree from Cooper School of Art in Cleveland and also attended Fenn College in Cleveland. He served as a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps. from 1956 to 1958 and in the reserve until 1962. Mr. Dietrich retired from the Plain Dealer as an assistant manager for marketing and research in 1995. He was also a retired deacon of the Catholic Church, having served at St. Richard's Parish in North Olmsted, Holy Trinity Parish, Avon and most recently Holy Spirit Parish in Avon Lake. Fr. James H. Beatty of Holy Spirit Church expressed that he served the church as a deacon with distinction. Hal was a member of the Holy Spirit Church, Avon Lake and enjoyed gardening, traveling and art.Mr. Dietrich is survived by his wife of one year, one month, and two days, Mary Indellicati (nee Haines); three daughters, Carol Dietrich of Westlake, Heidi Lopriore of North Olmsted. And Becky Sebastian of Fairview park; a son, Mark Dietrich of Westlake; a granddaughter, Sarah Lopriore; four sisters, Carol Halloran of Michigan, Gayle McKim of California, Elaine Bustos of Colorado, and Diane Traffis of Chesterland, OH; and a brother, Robert Dietrich of Westlake; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Michael and Hazel Louise (nee McCaskey) Dietrich; and a brother Norm Dietrich.
Friends may call at the BUSCH-BURMEISTER FUNERAL CHAPEL, 163 Avon Belden Rd., Avon Lake from 7-9 Sunday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Spirit Church, 410 Lear Rd. Avon Lake on Tuesday, May 29 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Avon.
