Wendy Ruth Burkey, 32, Crew Chief

She was born on April 6, 1969 in Elyria, where she had lived her entire life.

Wendy graduated from Elyria West High School in 1988. She attended Lorain Community College for 2 years.

She worked for Elyria Maintenance Company as a crew chief for 8 years. Prior to this she worked as a secretary for Attorney Michael Godles, in Elyria.

She was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Church, Elyria. She was a Scout Leader for the daisy Girl Scout troop in Elyria. Mrs. Burkey was currently serving as resident council president of her neighborhood.

She is survived by her mother: Barbara Anne (nee Peggs) Bohoric and step-father, Richard Bohoric, of Elyria, daughters Savanah Dawn Godles, Sierra Rose Burkey, and Sabrina Grace Burkey, all of Elyria; brothers: Walter Paul Godles III of Lorain and Ryan Charles Godles of Lorain, sisters: Grace Marie Terry of Wellington, Amanda Elizabeth Bohoric, of Elyria and Ashley Rae Godles of Lorain, maternal grandparents: Dale & Ruth Peggs of Elyria and paternal grandparents: Walter And Grace Godles of Elyria.

She was preceded in death by her father Walter Paul Godles, Jr. in 1990, and her step-mother, Christine Godles in 1999.

The family will receive friend son Wednesday, May 30, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2001 at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 a.m. mass at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, Elyria. The Rev. Fr. James Ols, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
