Thomas C. Beam, 82, Roller Skater

Thomas C. Beam, 82, of Sheffield Township, died Monday, May 28, 2001, at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph following a short illness. He was born on December 7, 1918 in Lorain and had been a life long resident.

He worked in the Machine Shop at US Steel Corp. in Lorain before retiring in 1981 after 37 years. He was a member of the First Evangelical Church in Lorain, Lorain Masonic Lodge #552, Black River Astronomical Society and Friends of Lorain County MetroParks. He enjoyed roller-skating and had been a roller skater for most of his life.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years Esther Beam (nee Moulder); son: Timothy Beam of Richmond Heights, OH; daughters: Linda Beam of Lorain and Donna Perko of Euclid, OH; and 5 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents William and Harriet Beam, an infant son: Thomas Jr., brothers: Donald, Ernest, William and Lester Beam, and sisters: Alice Hoffner and Margaret Beam.

Friends may visit Wednesday, May 30, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Reichlin-Cooley Funeral Home, 2920 Broadway, Lorain. The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. with visitation for 1/2 hour prior to service at First Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Jimmy Madsen officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
