Rose Mary Bermudez, 42, Minister

Rose Mary Bermudez, age 42, of Lorain, died on Thursday, May 31, 2001 at Manor Care Health Services, Cleveland, following a lengthy illness.

She was born on November 9, 1958 in Lorain, where she had been a lifelong resident.

Graduating from Southview High School in 1977, she attended Chatham College in Pittsburgh, PA where she acquired her BA degree in Philosophy in 1981. She also attended Cleveland State for a short time. She received her minister certificate from The Church On The North Coast.

Rose Mary was employed at The Church ON The North Coast as a computer instructor. Prior to that, she was employed as a clerk to the County Auditor' s Office in Elyria, paralegal secretary for the Legal Aid Society, Elyria, case-worker for Children Services, Elyria and a case-worker for El Centro.

She was an active member of The Church On The North Coast, where she was also a minister. She enjoyed writing poetry, many of which were published, enjoyed reading and volunteering for various community work.

She is survived by her son: Marcus W. of Lorain. 3 brothers: Jesus, of Sandusky, Edwin and Daniel, both of Lorain, and 9 sisters: Carmen Torres, Ruby Ramsey, Diamalen Bermudez, all of Lorain, Maria Castro of Florida, Sonia Emmons of Orlando, Florida, Rosario Tinsley of Colorado Springs, Lydia Maisonete of Fajardo, Puerto Rico and Felicita Bermudez of Virginia Beach, VA.

She is preceded in death by her father Carmen Bermudez in 1994, her mother Clotilde (nee Gerena) Bermudez in 1989, brother Marcus and sister Placida Bermudez.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 04, 2001 from 5-9 p.m. at the Church On The North Coast, 4125 Leavitt Road, Lorain. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. in the church. Rev. Louis F. Kayatin, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain is handling the arrangements.
