Joseph A. Yance, 58, Served in U.S. Army
Joseph A. Yance, age 58, of Lorain died Sunday, June 3, 2001 in the emergency room of Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center-West after being stricken with an apparent heart attack. He was born January 29, 1943 in Dillonvale, Ohio and had been a resident of Lorain for the past 38 years.A graduate of Dillonvale High School, Mr. Yance went on to serve with the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1970. He had been employed in the maintenance department of CenturyTel for the past 28 years.
He was a member of Amvets Post #47 of Lorain, and Pulaski Post #38 of the Polish Legion of American Veterans. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and doing yard work.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years: Jean (nee Kinney), a son: Joseph C. Yance of Elyria, daughter: Lisa Nickeson of Lorain, two granddaughters and a sister: Delores Cencula of Mentor-on-the-Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents: Anthony and Anne (nee Nagy) Yance.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Resthaven Memory Gardens-3700 Center Road- Avon, Ohio. The Rev. James McKenzie, pastor of both Faith United Methodist Church an Emmanuel United Methodist will officiate.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel-Lorain.
