Laura Belle Foote, 85, Teacher
Laura Belle Foote (nee Gruey), 85 of Mount Dora, Florida formerly of Lorain passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2001 at the Ruleme Center in Eustas, Florida following a lengthy illness.Mrs. Foote was born on August 6, 1915 in Geneva, Ohio moving to Lorain as a small child. In the 1960, she and her husband moved to PA, retiring to Florida in the 1990s.
While living in Lorain, she attended the First Baptist Church of Lorain. In Florida, she attended the Central Christian Church-Disciples of Christ.
Mrs. Foote received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Baldwin-Wallace State University. She also studied at Purdue and Bowling Green State University.
She taught 2nd grade for 12 years in the Elyria School System.
She had been active in the Girl Scouts, was a life member of the Rainbow Girls and Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority and sang in choirs until 1992.
Mrs. Foote is survived by her husband of 64 years: Nathan Maxted Foote of Mount Dora, FL, sons: Jonathon W. Foote of Jane Lew, WV, Willard G. Foote of Arcata, CA, daughters: L. Nadine Barr of Bethesda, MD and Frances Hawthorne of Lyndhurst, OH, 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, sister: Dora Hawley of Elyria, OH.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Weston Orson and Helen May (nee Hanson) Gruey.
Friends may call at the Schwartz-Spence & Boyer Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th St., Lorain, OH on Tuesday, June 12, 2001 from 12:30 p.m. to service time at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Brad J. Donahue, pastor of Christian Temple-Disciples Church in Lorain will officiate.
Burial will be in the Restlawn Cemetery, Elyria.
