Bertha Gillenwaters, 98, Enjoyed Crafts and Spending Time with Her Grandchildren
Bertha Gillenwaters (nee Leonartz), 98 of Lorain, formerly of Avon Lake, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2001 at the Ohio Extended Care Center, Lorain, following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Gillenwaters was born March 21, 19903 in New Jersey, and had lived in Avon Lake, then moved to St. Petersburg, FL for 14 years before returning to Lorain to live with her daughter and son. She was a homemaker and enjoyed crafts and spending time with her grandchildren.Her husband of 57 years, the late John N. passed away in 1978. Mrs. Gillenwaters is survived by two daughters: Mildred H. Michalski of Lorain and Phyllis J. Bluffstone of Tampa, FL, a son: Robert L. of Lorain, 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by a son Perry J., Parents Joseph and Mary (nee Polley) Leonartz, 3 sisters and a grandson.
Friends may call at the BUSCH-BURMEISTER FAMILY CHAPEL, 163 Avon Belden Rd., Avon Lake, Tuesday June 12, 2001 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home Wednesday, June 13, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Kelly Peters of the Avon Lake United Methodist Church of Christ will officiate. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Park Cemetery.
