Katherine Szeto, 86, Enjoyed Sewing and Traveling
Katherine Szeto (nee Brodach), age 86, of Lorain, died Monday, June 11, 2001 at her residence after suffering an apparent heart attack. She was born in Lorain on May 2, 1915 and had been a resident of the city for her entire life.An active member of the Hungarian Reformed United Church of Christ (Lorain), she was a member of the church's Busy Martha Guild, as well as its Caring Circle group.
Her hobbies included sewing and traveling extensively throughout North America.
She is survived by her sons: Joseph Szeto, Jr. of Lorain, John "Jack" Szeto of Greenville, South Carolina; daughters: Elaine Hoy of Genoa, Illinois, and Karen Albrecht of Farmington, Michigan; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and her brother: Ludwig Matotek of Amherst.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Joseph Szeto, Sr. in1993, her parents: Mike and Mary (nee Vugrincic) Brodach, sister: Helen Sabo in 1992, and her brother John Matotek in 1985.
Friends may call Thursday, June 14, 2001 from 6 until 9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel-3224 Broadway- Lorain where a memorial prayer service will be conducted at 8:30 p.m. with Rev. Zoltan D. Szucs, Bishop and Pastor of the Hungarian Reformed United Church of Christ officiating. Entombment will follow in the Freedom Chapel at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
