Clarence J. Blitz, 81, Enjoyed Hunting and Fishing

Clarence J. Blitz, 81, of Bay Village and formerly of the Avon and Avon Lake areas died Monday, June 18, 2001, at Bradley Bay Health Center, Bay Village following a lengthy illness.

He was born April 21, 1920 in Avon and moved to Bay Village 51 years ago. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army as a mechanic.

He was employed as a machine operator for Precision Castings, then as an insurance agent for Met-Life and retired in 1985 as a manager from Westlake Farmers Market. He was a member of St. Raphael Church, Bay Village and the A.A.R.P. Clarence enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.

He is survived by a son, Raymond C. Blitz of Bay Village; a brother, Donald Blitz of Avon; a sister, Katherine Hartsel of Valley City. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice (nee Stauder); a brother, Fred; his parents, George and Viola (nee Tincher) Blitz; and his stepmother, Elsie Blitz.

Friends may call at the BUSCH-BURMEISTER FAMILY CHAPEL, 32000 Detroit Rd., Avon from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. Prayer services will be at the funeral home Thursday, June 21, 2001 at 9:45 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Raphael Church, 525 Dover Center Rd., Avon at 10:30 a.m. where Fr. Tim Gareau will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Avon.
