Pedro C. Garcia, 82, Laborer
Pedro C. Garcia, age 82, of Lorain, died Wednesday, July 4, 2001, at his residence after an illness of 8 years.Mr. Garcia was born on September 19, 1918 in Maunabo, Puerto Rico. He came to Lorain in 1950 from Santurce, Puerto Rico.
He was a laborer at the Ford Motor Company, Engine Plant #2, in Brookpark for 26 years, retiring in 1979. He was also a member of UAW Local #1250, Cleveland.
Mr. Garcia was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel and one of the first Cursillistas at that church.
Surviving is his wife of 62 years, Felicita (nee Rios), one son: Pete Cruz; two daughters: Carmen Cruz and Gladys Herrera all of Lorain; 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Daniel Garcia and Ernesto Cruz, both of Lorain; and one sister, Ana Senquiz, of Orlando, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Julia (nee Garcia) Cruz; one son, Felix "Freddy" Cruz, in 1984; one brother, Pedro Burgos, in 1991; and one sister, Carmen Mojica, in 1991.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 6, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Friends may call on Saturday, July 7, 2001 at 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Father William Thaden, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
