Mary Stauber, 93, Nurse's Aide

Mary Stauber (nee Walack), 93 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Monday, July 9, 2001 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home, Lorain following a brief illness.

She was born on August 25, 1907 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Raised in Lorain, she graduated from Lorain High School with the class of 1925 and has been a lifelong resident.

After high school, she went on to Kent State University receiving a two year certificate in Elementary Education. She taught 1st grade for several years at Oakwood Elementary School in Lorain. From 1930 to 1958, she was a traveling salesperson for ladies beauty supplies with Lapanol Corp. of Michigan. Mary attended St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a Nurse's Aide in Home Health Care from 1965 until her retirement in 1983. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Lorain.

Survivors include two nephews; a niece; 2 great nephews; 7 great nieces; and several great great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 6 years: Frank L. Stauber in 1964; her parents: Anthony and Catherine (nee Cork) Walack; and by her sisters: Barbara Pirnack and Anna MaCan in 1998.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain with Rev. Father Kenneth J. Wolnowski officiating.
