Ernest John Nyfenger, 84, Enjoyed Fishing and Gardening
Elmer John Nyfenger, 84, of Sheffield Lake, formerly of Shaker Heights, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2001 at Holy Family Home, Parma, following a lengthy illness. Mr. Nyfenger was born June 8, 1917 in Cleveland and has lived in Sheffield Lake for the past 25 years.Mr. Nyfenger was a 1937 graduate of Shaker Heights High School and served in the US Army during WWII as an Anti-Aircraft Gunner in Africa, Sicily, and Italy. He worked in the personnel office for Yellow Cap in Cleveland for 33 years. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and enjoyed fishing, gardening, and going out for dinner.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Marie Prete, whom he married January 10, 1966. Other survivors include a daughter, Frances Nyfenger of Sheffield Lake, Jacqueline Albertson of Columbia Station and Kenneth Parma of Parma, 4 grandchildren, brothers Edward of Vermilion, Ernest of Avon Lake, and Robert of New London. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Frances (nee Kozorog), brothers Harry and Fred and a sister Ruth Schuh.
Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Road, Avon Lake, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. (only) Tuesday, July 17, 2001. The service will be at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 521 Harris Road, Sheffield Lake on Wednesday, July 18, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Stephen Shileds of the Church will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Avon.
