George A. Garay, 62, Maintenance Electrician

He was born June 6, 1939 in Filbert, West Virginia. He came to Ohio in 1951 and lived in Elyria before moving to Amherst 36 years ago.

He retired from Ford Motor Co., Lorain, after 36 years as a maintenance electrician. He was a member of Family Fellowship Foursquare Gospel in Amherst. He was a hobby enthusiast and enjoyed model Railroad and woodworking. He also enjoyed computing, reading, and dogs.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years: Gayle Lynne (nee: Petry) Garay of Amherst; his daughter: Christine Marie Garay of Amherst; his mother: Mary (nee Mercs) Elkin; and his brother: Charles Garay of Elyria.

He was preceded in death by his father: Steven Garay in 1942.

Friends may call Thursday, July 19, 2001 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 20, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Bill Mouer, Pastor of Family Fellowship Foursquare Gospel, Amherst, will officiate. Burial will be in Brownhelm Cemetery.
