James E. Heiser, 81, Enjoyed Walking with his Great Grandchildren

James E. Heiser, 81, of Avon Lake died Wednesday, July 18, 2001 at EMH Regional Medical Center, Elyria, following a short illness (stroke related). He was born March 16, 1920 in West Chicago, Illinois and moved to Avon Lake in 1956. During World War II, he served in the US Army in a railroad battalion in North Africa and Sicily. He was employed as a truck driver for Cleveland Transfer, retiring in 1981. He attended St. Joseph Church, Avon Lake and was a past member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed walking with his great grandchildren and his family.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years: Margaret Virginia (nee Eylar); a daughter: Jeanine Schaeffer of Wakeman; a son: James C. Heiser of Fairfield, California; three grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers: Francis, Donald, William, and George Heiser; a sister: Dorothy Ballard; and his parents: Charles F. and Anna Jeanette (nee Leech) Heiser.

Private services will be held at a later date. Cremation by Busch Crematory. Arrangements handled by the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Road, Avon Lake.
