Edward Henry Dotzlaf, 80
Edward Henry Dotzlaf, 80, and a resident of Amherst, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2001 at his home following a lengthy illness.He was born September 14, 1920 in Cleveland. Raised in Huron, South Amherst, and Sheffield Lake, he graduated from Ohio University with a BA in Commerce. Prior to moving to Amherst 44 years ago, he was a Lorain resident.
He served in the US Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was employed by Lorain Slag prior to working at American Ship Building, retiring as a cashier in 1983. He was a charter member of West Minster Presbyterian now Heritage Presbyterian Church in Amherst.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years: Charlotte Lucile Dotzlef (nee King); sons: Edward Dotzlaf of Greenwood, IN and Alfred Fritz Dotzlaf of Fowlerville, MI; a daughter: Linda Sue Fordyce of New Carlisle Township; eight grandchildren; and sisters: Lydia Ries of Amherst and Betty Copp of Falls Church, VA.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry Jacob and Martha Dotzlaf; brother: Henry J. Dotzlaf; and sister: Olga La Virha.
A memorial service will be held at Heritage Presbyterian Church, 515 North Leavitt Road, Amherst on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m.
