Charles Jeffords, 82, Retired Master Mechanic

Charles "Jeff" Jeffords, 82, of Amherst died on Saturday, July 21, 2001 at his home in Amherst, OH following a long illness.

Mr. Jeffords was born on June 26, 1919 in Portsmouth, OH and has lived in the Lorain area for the past 45 years. He was a retired master mechanic with the city of Lorain, retiring in 1984 with more than 20 years of service. He was a member of the Church of St. Peter.

He enjoyed Cleveland sports, reading, and working on cars.

Mr. Jeffords is survived by his wife: Evelyn "Debby" (nee Tennihill) Jeffords, to whom he married in 1944; his three daughters: Patricia A. Weaver, Nicki L. Majcher both of Lorain, and Rebecca J. Milota of Amherst; two sons: Carl E. Jeffords of Hamden, OH and Ralph Jeffords of Lorain; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; his sister: Sadie Dillow of Portsmouth, OH; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Edmund C. and Bessie E. (nee Coborn) Jeffords; his sisters: Harriet Rice, Ruth Bunyon; his brothers: Carl Jeffords, Joseph Jeffords and Wilbur Jeffords.

Friends may call at Schwartz-Spence & Boyer Home for Funerals, 1124 West 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio on Sunday, July 22, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on July 23, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. in Schwartz-Spence & Boyer Home for Funerals in Lorain, Ohio with the Rev. Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor of the Church of St. Peter officiating.

Charles Jeffords will be buried at Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Amherst Township, Ohio.
