Vincent W. Wilson, 82, Security Officer

Vincent W. Wilson, 82, of Elyria, died Saturday, July 22, 2001 at Amherst Manor Nursing Home in Amherst, OH following a brief illness.

Mr. Wilson was born on November 18, 1918 in Vintondale, PA, living in Elyria for the past 31 years. He was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Elyria, a member of the Holy Name Society and served for many years on the Bingo committee.

Mr. Wilson was an U.S. Army veteran and earned a WWII Victory Medal. He was a retired security officer for B.F. Goodrich in Avon.

He is survived by his daughter: Jean Johnson of North Ridgeville; his son: William Wilson of Lorain; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sisters: Julia Hegedus of Elyria and Helen Hughes of Amherst.

Mr. Wilson is preceded in death by his wife: Florence R. (nee Johannsen) Wilson on July 18, 1979; his parents: William and Anna (nee Rubis) Wilson; his sister: Mary Chamiski; and his brother: John Wilson.

Friends may call at Schwartz-Spence & Boyer Home for Funerals, 1124 West 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio on Tuesday, July 24, 2001 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. The Holy Name Society of the St. Vincent DePaul Church will pray the rosary at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be held July 25, 2001 at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, 41295 North Ridge Road, East, Elyria, Ohio with Rev. James Ols, pastor, officiating.

Vincent W. Wilson will be buried at Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Amherst Township, Ohio with full military honors by Amvets Post #47 of Lorain.
