Helen Z. Kirsch, 84
Helen Z. Kirsch (nee Zelina), 84, of Lorain, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001 at St. Joseph Specialty Hospital in Lorain after a brief illness. She was born in Lorain in May 20, 1917 and was a lifelong resident.Mrs. Kirsch had been employed from 1967 - 1985 at Lake Erie Electric in their payroll and sales departments. She was previously employed from 1941 - 1956 at the former US Steel in Lorain.
A lifelong parishioner and Eucharist Minister of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, she was a member and former officer of the St. Mary Magdalene Lodge and she was their Fraternalist of the Year in 1991. She was also a member and former officer of the United Slovak Society, National Slovak Society Branch 160, Holy Trinity Rosary Society, St. Ann's Lodge Br. 114 and Ladies Guild. A past director of the American Slovak Club, she was also a member of the Lakeland Women's Club and a volunteer with the St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary for many years.
Mrs. Kirsch is survived by her daughter: Mary Kathryn Kirsch of South Amherst; son: David Kirsch of Lorain; and 2 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Franklyn in 1984; parents: Stephen and Anna (nee Ivan) Zelina; sister: Mary Joseph; brothers: Joseph Zelina, Steve Zelina, and Frank Zelina.
Friends may call Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway- Lorain, where a rosary will be recited by the Holy Trinity Altar & Rosary Society, St. Ann's Lodge Branch 114, the Holy Trinity Ladies Guild, and St. Mary Magdalene Lodge at 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin Friday, July 27, 2001 at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by her funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Trinity Catholic Church- 2428 Elyria Avenue- Lorain. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
