Marvin C. Cooper, 72, Pipefitter
Marvin C. Cooper, 72, of Amherst, died Monday, July 30, 2001 at the Cleveland Clinic following a lengthy illness.He was born August 9, 1928, in Fairmont, West Virginia. He moved to Amherst in 1952.
He was employed by Genera Motors, Elyria, from 1952 to 1958 and worked for the Ford Motor Company, Lorain, for 33 years before retiring in 1991 as a pipefitter.
He had a captain's license in boating and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, mechanics and as a handyman helping neighbors and friends with various projects. Cooper served two years in the U.S. Army Coast Artillery Corps in the Panama Canal Zone, shortly after World War II. He was a member of the U.A.W. Local 425 out of Lorain.
Survivors include his wfe of 51 years: Sylvia M. (nee Miller) Cooper of Amherst; sons: Mr. Randall (Randy Cooper of Lorain and Mr. Ronald (Ron) Cooper of Amherst; brother: Mr. Gary D. Cooper, Sr. of Wakeman; sisters: Lora B. Jones of West Virginia, Roberta Parrack of Grafton, Fairy Milbaugh of Lancaster; half-brothers: Harold of Kentucky, Golden of Kansas, Richard of West Virginia, and Robert of West Virginia; half-sisters: Susan Moffatt of California, Sandra McCrosky of Florida, Bonnie Garrett of West Virginia, Eva Lou Altman of Pennsylvania, and Annette Ramsey of West Virginia,
He was preceded in death by his brother: Charles Richard Cooper and two infant sisters: Delores and Rebecca.
Friends may call Wednesday, August 1, 2001 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, August 2, 2001 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst, Ohio. Funeral services with full Military Honors by the Louis Paul Proy Disabled American Veterans Chapter 20 of Lorain will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
