Maxon Hugh Siron, 87, Nordson Corp. Foreman

Maxon Hugh Siron, 87 years of age, and a resident of South Amherst, passed away, Friday evening, August 3, 2001 at Community Health Partners H & S Center, Lorain following a long illness.

Born October 6, 1913 in Kanawha Head, West Virginia, he came to Oberlin in 1940. He has been a South Amherst resident for over 50 years.

He was employed at Nordson Corporation, Amherst for 39 years retiring in 1978 as a foreman. He was a n active member of Sanctuary of the Congregational Church of South Amherst, serving as a former Sunday School teacher, Chairman of the Board of Deacons, Trustee, Sunday School Superintendent, and was made an Honoree Deacon. He also was a member of the Stonington Masonic Lodge #503, the Cleveland Scottish Rite, the Al Koran of Cleveland and the Nordson Management Professional Club. He loved auto mechanics, restoring old cars, fishing and hunting.

Survivors include longtime companion Ella Mae Skinner; sons, Harold Morris and Dwight Hugh Siron, both of Wakeman: daughter Ethel Mae Lalonde of Amherst; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren and sisters Grey Shobe of Crawford, WVA, Opal Blair of Maryland and Ruby Shock of FL.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Iva Gay (nee Davidson) Siron in 1974; his parents Henry Fred in 1978 and Mildred (nee Davidson) in 1958 and by his brother Cecil Siron in 1986.

Friends may call Sunday, August 5, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 06, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. from the Sanctuary of the Congregational Church of South Amherst; 114 W. Main Street. The Rev. Carson Fraley, pastor of North Lake Missionary Baptist Church, South Amherst will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Garden, Avon.
