Maria S. Garcia, 80, Enjoyed Gardening

Maria S. Garcia (nee Salinas), age 80, of South Amherst, died on Friday, August 10, 2001 at her residence following a lengthy illness.

She was born on May 25, 1921 in Maunabo, Puerto Rico. She moved to the are in 1948.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel in Lorain.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking and dedicated her life to her family.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years: Jose "Lino" Garcia, 2 sons: Robert Garcia, of South Amherst and Antonio Ithier, of Tampa FL; 2 daughters: Nellie Ithier, of Cidra PR and Maria Tommaro, of Phoenix, AZ; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers: Mariano Morales of Cabo Rojo, PR, Erminio Morales of Maunabo, PR, Diego Morales of Mass., and Rafael Morales of Lorain, 1 sister: Angela Morales of Mass.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Nicolai and Modesta (nee Salinas) Morales and Brother Juan Morales.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 12, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain and also on Monday, August 13, 2001 from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
