Helen V. Pollack (nee Evans), 79, and a resident of Norwalk passed away on August 14, 2001 at Twilight Gardens Nursing Home following a one year illness.Born April 21, 1922 in Amherst, she was raised in South Amherst. Graduating from South Amherst High School with the class of 1940. She has lived in Henrietta Township since 1946 until the time of her illness one year ago.
Helen was a housewife and mother. She operated Houndsman Feed & Supply in Henrietta Township for 26 years and worked for Firelands School as cook for 12 years. She loved antiques.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Anthony C. Pollack; her sons: Anthony C. Pollack, Jr. of Collins, OH and Richard C. Pollack of Audobon, PA; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and her sister Emmi Jean Harsar of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ord "Dick" and Clara (nee Lute) Evans; 5 brothers; 3 sisters; and 1 grandson.
Friends may call Thursday, August 16, 2001 from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Graveside services only for family and friends will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst. The Rev. N. James Greenawalt, Pastor of South Amherst First United Methodist Church will officiate.
