Ethel Finnegan, 97, Enjoyed Making Crafts and Crocheting

Ethel Finnegan (nee Foldesy), 97, of Amherst, passed away August 23, 2001 at Community Health Partners West in the Intensive Care Unit following a lengthy illness.

Born February 19, 1904 in Koronczo, Hungary (near Budapest), she came to South Amherst in 1909 and had been a lifelong resident of Amherst and South Amherst.

Ethel was a housewife and mother. She was a lifetime member of ST. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst and a lifetime member of the St. Joseph Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member and past president of the Amherst and Lorain County Homemaker's Association. She loved making crafts and crocheting.

Survivors include her son: Thomas Finnegan of FL; daughter: Mrs. Steven (Kathleen) Kosash of Elyria; 3 granddaughters; 9 great-grandchildren; brother: Rudolph Poszgai of Oberlin.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Ernest & Cecelia Foldsey; and sisters: Margaret Marrtinek and Elizabeth Cooper.

Friends may call Sunday 2 to 4 p.m. at Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave.; Amherst. Mass will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, Amherst. Father Lawrence Martello, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst, will officiate. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Amherst.
