Geraldine R. Smith, 84, Past Altar and Rosary President

Geraldine R. Smith, 84, of Wellington died Thursday, August 23, 2001 in the emergency room of Oberlin Medical Center following an extended illness.

Mrs. Smith was born June 29, 1917 in Lorain. She was a longtime Lorain area resident until moving to Wellington 2 � years ago.

Mrs. Smith was employed for many years as a seamstress for the former Goodall's Clothiers of Lorain.

She was a 1935 graduate of St. Mary's High School in Lorain. A parishioner of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society and served as president in 1964. She was also instrumental in the planning of the annual St. Vincent De Paul carnival. Her hobbies included sewing and crocheting.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband of 64 years, James Clayton Smith of Wakeman; son: James R. Smith of Springfield, OH, daughter: Geraldine Parker of Wakeman; 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sister: Kathleen Rusin of Lorain; brothers: Thomas Curran of Stuart, FL and James Curran of Flemington, NJ.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Catherine in 1987; sisters: Richarda Fair in 1999 and Mary Ellen Doslovich.

Friends may call Sunday, August 26, 2001 from 4-8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will be Monday, August 27th at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel. The Rev. James Ols, pastor of St. Vincent De Paul Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions in her name to The Building Fund at St. Vincent De Paul Church, 41295 North Ridge Road, Elyria, OH 44035.
