Alice J. Watkins, 58, Enjoyed Crocheting & Bingo

Alice H. Watkins (nee Rahrig), 58, of Lorain, died Sunday, August 26, 2001 after being stricken suddenly at her home. She was born February 12, 1943 in Lorain and was a 1961 graduate of Lorain High School; she later attended Lorain County Community College.

She was employed for many years in the food and restaurant industry throughout Lorain County and had most recently been on staff at DeLuca's in the Park (Lorain), and the Farmer Boy Restaurant (South Amherst). She had previously been employed as secretary to the dean at Arizona University.

Her hobbies included reading (especially periodicals), crocheting, and bingo. She also found great enjoyment in babysitting for friends. She was well known for her extensive teddy bear collection which she had planned to soon share with children at area hospitals and care facilities.

She is survived by a daughter: Tammy L. Watkins of Sheffield Township; sisters: Donna A. Rodriguez and Florence Zuffa of Lorain and Marylene Brown of Elyria. She was preceded in death by her parents: Lawrence and Mary (nee Matejick) Rahrig.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 7:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway - Lorain. Private burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery - Lorain.
