Thelma Marie Dellefield, 92, Teacher

Thelma Marie Dellefield (nee Bond), 92, formerly of Amherst, passed away Monday afternoon, September 17, 2001 at Kingston of Vermilion following a brief illness.

Born November 2, 1908 in Cass, West Virginia, moving to Autenberg, Ohio at age 5. As a young woman, she moved to Amherst where she lived till 1991 when she moved to Lorain to live with her daughter.

She received a 2-year teaching degree from Kent State University. Mrs. Dellefield was employed as an elementary teacher for the Amherst School System for 36 years, retiring in 1976. She was a member of Park Avenue Methodist Church, Amherst and enjoyed traveling and playing bridge.

Survivors include her daughters: Mars. Larry (Joyce) Busch of Ada, Ohio and Sandra Jordan of Lorain; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 22 years: Samuel C. Dellefield in 1959; her parents: Edward Claude and Anna (nee Berry) Bond; and her brother: Dwight Bond.

Friends may call Thursday 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Kent Joy, pastor of Park Avenue United Methodist Church, Amherst, will officiate. Burial will be in Brownhelm Cemetery, Brownhelm Township.
