Julia Hrubic, 86, Lorain City Schools Employee
Julia Hrubic, (nee Chornyak), 86 of Lorain died Thursday, September 20, 2001 at Community Health Partners and Surgical Center following a sudden illness.Born March 2, 1915 in Pittsburgh, PA she lived in Rankin PA before coming to Lorain in 1941.
During World War II, she worked for Bendix Westinghouse in Elyria in the Air Brake Division. Following that, she worked 16 years at the Will Call desk of Higbee's Department Store in Cleveland. Later she worked at Nelson Stud, in Lorain for several years. Most recently, she worked in the custodial department at Lorain High School then Meister Road School for a total of 15 years before retiring in 1980.
She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church and St. Mary Sisterhood of the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Michael Hrubic Jr., in 1996, her parents, Michael Chornyak in 1916 and Ella (nee Laschak) Chornyak in 1918 and two sisters: Anna Chornyak and Mary Gresko in 1971.
Visitation will be Sunday September 23, 2001 from 4-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain where a parastas service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Friends may also call on Monday, September 24th from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 10:00 a.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, 2238 E. 32nd St., Lorain. Very Rev. Fr. Basil Stoyka, arch priest and pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
