Patricia V. Longacre, 49, Enjoyed Shopping & Helping Others
Patricia V. "Patti" Longacre (nee Toth), 49, of Avon and formerly of Avon Lake died Monday, September 24, 2001 at the Cleveland Clinic following a short illness. She was born September 10, 1952 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and moved to Avon two years ago coming from Avon Lake where she resided ten years.
She was a 1971 graduate of Admiral King High School, Lorain. Her late father, Valentine Toth, was an ordained minister in the Hungarian Reformed Church (last serving a church in Lorain), and also an attorney and judge, and her mother was a descendant of Hungarian Royalty.
Patti was a character, a woman with literally hundreds of friends. She loved shopping, especially bargain and garage sale shopping. She was generous and big-hearted. She owned her own cleaning business, TLC Cleaning Co. in Avon; and would try to hire anyone she knew who was in need, including women who were down on their luck. She was an active member of the Avon Lake United Church of Christ, where she will be remembered for countless "acts of kindness" - cooking meals for people who were sick, cleaning house for a woman undergoing treatment for cancer. According to her pastor, Kelly Peters, when she was too sick to work herself, she volunteered at the church, looking for wood to dust and brass to polish. When her cancer returned this year, a healing service was held for her at the church. "Only Patti could turn a healing service into a party," said Rev. Peters. The church was full of Patti's many friends.
Patricia is survived a son: Adam Robert Longacre of Scottsdale, Arizona; daughter: Lindsey Val Longacre of Avon Lake; brother: Peter Toth of Amherst; and two nephews, both of Amherst.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Judge Valentine and Mrs. Virginia Toth (nee Himmler).
