George E. Crump, 77, World War II Veteran
George E. Crump, 77, of Elyria, formerly of Lorain, died on Friday, Septmeber 28, 2001 at Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, OH following a long illness.Mr. Crump was born August 1, 1924 in Lorain, OH and lived in Lorain for 57 years, then moving to Elyria. He was a graduate of Lorain High School Class of 1943A and attended Bowling Green State University. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II.
He was baptized in the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Lorai8n and later in-life transferred his membership to the First United Methodist Church of Lorain.
Mr. Crump was retired as a salesman for the Goodman Beverage Co. after 15 years of service.
He was a member of the VFW Post 1079 in Elyria and the American Legion.
Mr. Crump is survived by his daughter: Leslie Crump Zuk of Worthington, OH; 2 grandchildren; sister: Daisy Pivacek Rich of Elyria, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife: Doris Dangler Crump on February 20, 1992; father: Edward A. Crump; and mother: Elizabeth Pycraft Crump Buttle.
Friends may call at the Schwartz-Spence & Boyer Home for Funerals, 1124 West 5th Street, Lorain, OH, on Monday, October 1, 2001 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the services in Tuesday.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at Schwartz-Spence & Boyer Home for Funerals, in Lorain, with the Chaplain Paul A. Birmingham, chaplain of the Ohio Veterans Home, officiating.
George E. Crump will be buried in Elmwood Cemetery with full military honors provided by the VFW Post 1079 of Elyria.
