Thomas Richard Larimer, 18, Student

Thomas Richard Larimer, 18, of South Amherst, was pronounced dead Friday, October 5, 2001 at Metro General Health Center in Cleveland. He had suffered injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Amherst as he was driving to work.

Born January 31, 1983 in Oberlin, Tom was raised in South Amherst where he attended Firelands Schools graduating from Firelands High School in 2001. He had been a resident of South Amherst his entire life.

Tom was in his freshman year at Lorain Community College, studying business and computers. He worked for Super K-Mart, Lorain, since July, 2001 in their inventory department working 9:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. He was hardworking, loved music and played bass guitar. A member of the Drama Club, he received an award from Firelands High School for Outstanding Service in the area of Drama.

Survivors include his parents Thomas C. and Kathleen (nee: Cameron) Larimer, Jr. of South Amherst; sister: Mrs. Donald (Tracey) Tettaton of South Amherst, Mrs. Robert (Rae Ann) Edelman of Roebling, NJ, and Tammy Larimer of Vermilion; maternal grandparents: Richard and Elizabeth Gunderson of South Amherst; paternal grandparents: Betty Larimer of Sheffield Lake; one niece and five nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather: Thomas Larimer, SR.

Friends may call Monday, October 8, 2001 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. from the Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Shroyer, associate pastor of Church of the Open Door, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
