Rosa Garcia, 63, Group Home Aid

She was born on October 27, 1937 in Piedras Negras, Mexico and moved to Lorain as a young lady.

She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, Port Arthur, TX in 1958 and served her county in the United States Marine Corp as a Corporal (E-4).

She was employed as a Group Home Aide for the Lorain County MR/DD for 15 years, retiring in 2000.

Rosa was a member of the Tower Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Marine Corps League, Lorain. She enjoyed quilting, traveling and sewing.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years; John L. of Lorain; son: Jay P. of Lorain, daughter: Tracie A. Garcia of Terre Haute, IN; 3 grandchildren; brother: Ellis Martinez of Port Arthur, TX; and sister: Frances Gonzalez of Eagle Pass, TX.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Patrick and Aurora (nee Martinez) Martinez.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 23, 2001 from 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain and again on Wednesday, October 24, 2001 at Tower Baptist Church, 1331 Tower Blvd., Lorain from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Chris Hughes, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

The Marine Corps League will conduct full military honors.
