Martha Jane McKinney, 88, Housewife and Mother
Martha Jane McKinney (nee Hall), 88 years of age, and a former resident of Lorain, passed away, Tuesday morning, October 23, 2001 at Kingston of Vermilion following a 3 month illness.Born July 26, 1913 in Greenfly, KY where she was raised. Prior to moving to Elyria with her daughter in 2000, she had been a Lorain resident since 1956.
Her profession was that of a housewife and mother. She was an active member of Midway Baptist Church in Elyria. She loved gardening, sewing, fishing, cooking, canning, going to church and helping people.
Survivors include her sons: James "Henry" and Donald McKinney, both of Lorain, Scott McKinney of Yadkinsville, NC and Bert McKinney of Avon Lake; her daughters: Beatrice Mulkey, Eleanore Adams, and Marie Thacker all of Lorain, and Kathy Spice of Amherst Township; 39 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and by a brother James Hall of Pikesville, KY.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Richard McKinney in 1982; her sons, Richard in infancy and Ronnie McKinney in 1965; and by her parents Scott and Judy (nee Engles) Hall.
Friends may call Thursday, October 25, 2001 from 4-8 p.m. at Midway Baptist Church; 41810 Griswold Road, Elyria. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. from the church with the Rev. Charles Keesee, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
