Rene Flores Martinez, 70, American Crucible Moder

Rene Flores Martinez, age 70, of Lorain, died on Tuesday, October 23, 2001 at his residence, while under the care of New Life Hospice, following a lengthy illness.

He was born on June 30, 1931 in Yauco, Puerto Rico. He moved to Lorain in 1947.

He was employed as a molder at American Crucible, for 23 years, retiring in 1976.

He was a member of Casa De Dios Y Puerta Del Cielo and a former member of Templo Emmanuel Assembly of God Church.

Rene was also a member of Sociedad De Caballeros, he was one of the founders of the Puerto Rican Home, and a former member of Knights of Columbus #637 and AMVETS Post #58.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years: Eufemia (nee Martinez), daughters: Esmeralda Alvarez, Christina Luna, both of Lorain and Sierra Martinez, of the home, brothers: Eladio Martinez, of New York and Anibal Martinez, of Lorain, sisters: Maria Calato, of Brooklyn, New York, Christina Velasquez, of Lorain and Angela Acosta, of Florida and 6 grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Pantaleon and Margarita (nee Martinez), in 1960, brothers: Francisco Flores Martinez in 1986, Jose Martinez in 1990, Gasper Flores in 1993 and Juan Martinez Flores in 2000.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 25, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Templo Emmanuel Assembly of God, 4230 Clinton Ave., Lorain and also on Friday, October 26, 2001 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Daniel Reyes, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
