Elwood R. Reed, 72, Salesman and Truck Manager
Elwood R. Reed, 72 years of age and a resident of Huron, passed away, Wednesday, October 24, 2001 at his home following a lengthy illness.Born May 10, 1929 in Jackson, Michigan. Elwood was raised in Ohio living primarily in Amherst and Wakeman before moving to Huron 8 years ago.
Elwood has worked for Jack Matia Ford for the past 43 years as a salesman and truck manager. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. A member of the Amherst VFW post #118, the Amherst American Legion #1662, the Huron Eagles and the Sandusky American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Virginia (nee: Syrowski) Reed; Daughter: Veelynn Dover of Huron; Brother: Bernard Reed of North Canton, two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Vee (nee Kurtz) Reed; granddaughter, infant Hope Marsinik.
Friends may call Friday, October 26, 2001 from 4-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst where military honors will be given by the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard, Saturday, October 27, 2001 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
