Angela P. Novak, 90, Sales Associate

Angela P. Novak (nee Swiderski), age 90, of Lorain died Monday, October 29, 2001 at Avon Oaks Nursing Home, Avon, following an extended illness.

Mrs. Novak was born March 24, 1911 in Broughton, Pennsylvania and had been a resident of Lorain since 1912.

She was a 1928 graduate of Lorain High School, and had been employed as a sales associate for various local department stores throughout the 1940's. She had previously been employed by Sova's Greenhouse (Sheffield Township), as well as Weitz Clothiers (Lorain).

She was a parishioner of the Catholic Church of St. Peter (Lorain) where she was a member of the Congregation of the Sacred Heart. She was also a former parishioner of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church were she had been a member of the choir as well as St. Ann's Lodge. She was also a former parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church (Lorain) where she had been a member of the Circle Nine organizations. A member of the Salvation Army Keenagers, she was a volunteer at the former Lorain Community Hospital. Her hobbies included bowling, traveling, knitting, crocheting, baking and playing cards.

She is survived by her son Gerald Novak of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, and Norman Novak of Simsbury, Connecticut, a daughter, Carol Kirchner of Sheffield Village, 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, sisters: Virginia Zaleski of Vermilion and Theresa Nocjar of Lorain.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, George E. Novak in October of 1989 by her parents: Paul and Stella (nee Wykowski) Swiderski, by a brother: Edward Swiderski, and by sisters: Helen Pecanis, Marie Lesner, Jay Zelina, and Joan Moss.

Friends may call Thursday, November 1, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will be Friday, November 2, 2001 beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by her funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. The Rev. G. Michael Williamson, associate pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
