Pauline F. Nemecek, 93, Richman Brothers Clothiers Sales Associate
Pauline F. Nemecek (nee Mayher), age 93, of Lorain died Wednesday, October 31, 2001 at the New Life Hospice of St. Joseph following an extended illness. She was born January 25, 1908 in Lorain and had been a life-long resident of the city.She was a longtime employee of Richman Brothers Clothiers (Lorain); she had previously been employed by the Lorain Garment Company as well as Sam's Place.
An active parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church (Lorain), she was a member of its Altar & Rosary Society, the Ladies Guild and a volunteer with the Trinity Center Auxiliary. She was also very involved with Slovak fraternal lodges and was a member of past officer of Slovak Catholic Sokols Wreath #111; she was also an honorary member of Sokols Group #5 where she served as a physical fitness instructor as well as a coach for its track and field team. A charter member of the American Slovak Club, she served as it first Recording Secretary and was an Ann Auxiliary of St. Ladidslaus Church as well as the American Association of Retired Persons. She was an avid participant of league bowling.
She is survived by her daughter: Mary Jordan of Lorain, 4 grandchildren ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband: Alfred J. Nemecek in 1951, by her parents: John and Mary (nee Orenic) Mayher, by brothers: John, Joseph, Albert and Andrew Mayher, and by sisters: Helen Mayher, Mary Lucas and Bertha Vargo.
Friends may call Sunday, November 4, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain where a rosary service will be jointly conducted at 3:00 p.m. by members and officers of the Holy Trinity Altar & Rosary Society, the Ladies Guild, and the Slovak Catholic Sokols. Funeral services will be Monday, November 5, 2001 at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by her funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2428 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. The Rev. David A. Novak, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
