Nicholas R. Grubic, 70
Nicholas R. Grubic, age 70, of Lorain died Wednesday, November 7, 2001 in the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph following an extended illness.He was born February 28, 1931 in Lorain and had been a life-long resident of the city. He was a 1949 graduate of Lorain High School and had attended Western Reserve University.
Mr. Grubic was the Lorain City Sealer during the Woodrow Mathna administration and the Administrator of the Lorain County Board of Elections. He was previously employed as a draftsman at the former United States Steel Company in Lorain. Mr. Grubic was involved in local politics and had been a former Republican candidate for County Commissioner and the Clerk of Courts.
He attended Our Lady of the Lourdes Catholic Church in New London. He was an avid gardener and proprietor of Grubic Farm in New London. He enjoyed baking and cooking. Mr. Grubic was also a member of the Croation Club and St. Ladislaus Club.
He is survived by his son: Frank "Fritz" Grubic of New London, daughters: Peggy Baker of Columbus and Alison Dodson of Westerville; 5 grandchildren; longtime companion: Mary Bulloch of Lorain; brother: Frank Grubic of Lorain; sisters: Marian Miller of Elyria. He was preceded in death by his parents: Frank and Anna (nee Pupie) Grubic; brothers: Joseph Grubic and David Grubic; sisters: Ann Grubic and Kathleen Wozniak.
Friends may call Friday, November 9, 2001 from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. His funeral mass will be Saturday, November 10th at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 18 Park Avenue, New London. The Rev. Robert Haas, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, New London.
