Mary A. Rick, 87, Enjoyed Cooking
Mary A. Rick (nee Adams), 87 of age and a resident of Lorain passed away Sunday morning, November 11, 2001 at Autumn Agies Nursing Home in Lorain after a lengthy illness.Born February 28, 1914 in Martin's Creek, PA, she was raised in Lorain where she lived most of her life until moving to Amherst.
She was employed at General Industries from 1951 to 1959 and worked at Sears Coffee Shop from 1973 to 1979. Her main profession and major life activity was that of making a home for her husband, children and grandchildren. She was a 60 year and founding member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Lorain and the Altar & Rosary Society. Since 1993, she has been a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons: Gordon Rick of Elyria, daughters: Darlene Nagy and Kathleen Piskur, both of Lorain; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and a sister Elizabeth Adam of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, George F. Rick in 1984; by her parents, Nickolas and Mary (nee: Migletz) Adam; and by her brothers James and Michael.
Friends may call Tuesday, November 13, 2001 7-9 at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst, where a Rosary Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Closing prayers will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2001 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home with Christian Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church; 41295 North Ridge Road, East, Elyria with the Rev. Fr. James Olds, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
