James William Mitchell, 89, Electrician

James Williams Mitchell, 89 of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Tuesday morning, November 13, 2001 after a lengthy illness.

Born January 17, 1912 in Hollister, OH where he was raised. He has been a resident of the Lorain County area since 1941.

He was employed as an electrician in residential construction for 47 years retiring in 1975. He was a member of Delaware Ave., Methodist Church in Lorain, a 60-year member of I.B.E.W. Local #129 and the American Association of Retired Persons. He volunteered at the Senior Center at Garfield School. He loved gardening and in the past, enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Jennie Garnet Mitchell; daughters: Mrs. Les (Ellen) Boyd of Campbell, CA and Mrs. Tom (Lynn) Hollstein of Amherst; and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents Josiah and Sarah (nee Bickley) Mitchell; by his brother, John Mitchell; and by his sisters, Deona Mitchell, Mildred McGee, Mary Kempton and Rosa Deem.

Friends may call Thursday, November 15, 2001 from 4-7 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 16th at 11:00 a.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Dennis Henkle, pastor of Delaware Ave. Methodist Church of Lorain will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill memorial Park, Amherst Twp.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, 5255 N. Abbe Road, Elyria, 44035 or Delaware Ave. Methodist Church, 658 East Erie Ave., Lorain 44052.
