Domenica "Mimmina" Ianni, 99, Accomplished Cook
Domenica "Mimmina" Ianni (nee Fioravanti), age 99, of Lorain, died Monday, November 26, 2001 at Avon Oaks Nursing Home following an extended illness. She had been a resident of the nursing home since 1996.She was born September 26, 1902 in Albetito, Italy in the province of Le Marche and immigrated to the United States in 1927. Proud of her adopted America, she was a regular voter and involved herself in issues that affected people and her community.
She was a longtime parishioner of the Catholic Church of St. Peter (Lorain). Best known for her generosity of spirit and warm and loving and welcoming heart, she was an accomplished cook who began her daily ministry of preparing family meals at 7:00 a.m. each and every day. Additional interests included sewing and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters: Rose Naelitz and Clara James both of Lorain, Gina Atanasoff of Columbus, Mary M. Riley of Amherst, and Vincenza "Vincy" Nagy of North Ridgeville, 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and her brother Bernardo residing in Italy.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Emidio in July of 1958, her parents: Vincenzo and Eurosia (nee DeLuca) Fioravanti, by a sister: Maria and by brothers: Paulo, Antonio and Domenic.
Friends may call Wednesday, November 28, 2001 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday in the funeral chapel and will be followed by her funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. The Rev. Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor of the Church of St. Peter will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain
