Irene Elma Strock, 76, Enjoyed Bible Study and Travel
Irene Elma Strock (nee Howington), age 76, of Lorain died Monday, December 3, 2001 at her residence following an extended illness.She was born July 7, 1925 in Tams, West Virginia and had been a resident of Lorain since 1962 coming from West Virginia.
Mrs. Strock was a long time member of Broadway Assembly of God Church, Lorain. Her interest included Bible study, and travel; she particularly enjoyed frequent trips to Amish country as well as to historical landmarks throughout the United States. She was also an accomplished solver of crossword puzzles who enjoyed the company of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter: Dreama West of Lorain, sons: Walter G. Strock of Sheffield Lake, William L. Strock of Lorain, and Richard L. Strock of Avon, 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a sister: Elizabeth Miller residing in Steubenville, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Walter G. Strock, Sr., in 1991 by her parents: Joseph E. and Laura Ann (nee Sizemore) Howington, by sisters: Mildred Johnson and Effie Sihok and by a brother Joe Howington.
Friends may call Wednesday, November 5, 2001 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 6, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at Broadway Assembly of God - 5495 Broadway - Lorain with the Rev. Mark Lantz, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens Avon.
