Eloise P. Rupert, 99, Choir Director

Eloise P. Rupert (nee Price), 99 of the Youngstown area, formerly of Avon Lake, passed away at the Shepperd Valley Nursing Home, Niles of natural causes. Mrs. Rupert was born in Griffith, Ohio. SHe was a 1920 graduate of Columbiana High School. Following High School, she worked as a Compometer Operator for the Erie Railroad, Youngstown.

In the 1940's the family moved from the Youngstown/Boardman area to Avon Lake. In 1961 she returned to Boardman where she resided until returning to Avon Lake in 1983. Most recently she had resided in the Youngstown area.

She was a former member of the Avon Lake United Church of Christ, Avon Lake, a former member of Good Hope Lutheran Church, Boardman and was currently a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Warren. She was a charter member of the Avon Lake Order of the Easter Star, Chapter #557, where she was the organist. She was one of the first cast members and member of the Board of Directors of the Avon Lake Players. During the 1950's Mrs. Rupert was active with the Civil Defense Group in Avon Lake. She was a member of the Beach Park Tower Apartments, Toweretts, a singing group of residents, which Mrs. Rupert belonged to well into her 90's. In Youngstown, she volunteered at the North Side Hospital. She was an organist, choir director, a seamstress, enjoyed music, reading, elocution, crocheting, and knitting.

Her husband, Lynus M. Rupert, whom she married in 1927, passed away in 1961. She is survived by a son, Albert L. of Garden Grove, California; a daughter, Mary Beth Nolan of Cortland, Ohio; 18 granchildren, 31 great granchildren and a great-great grandchild. Beside her husband, she is preceded in death by a son Paul N., a daughter Muriel K. Schaefer and her parents, Salem S. and Emma (nee Anderson) Price.

Friends may call at the BUSCH-BURMEISTER FAMILY CHAPEL 32000 Detroit Rd., Avon, Thursday, December 13, from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. All services will be held at the funeral home, Friday, at 11:00am. Rev Kelly Peters of the Avon Lake United Church of Christ will officiate. Internment will follow in Lakewood Park Cemetary.
