Robert Joseph Chermansky, 49, Millright

Robert Joseph Chermansky, 49 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Sunday morning, December 9, 2001 at his home following a brief illness.

Born October 8, 1952 in Warren, OH he was raised in Newton Falls and Parma. He resided in Cleveland until moving to Amherst in 1995.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where he received the National Defense Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal; the Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star; the Army Commendation Medal; the Ex Badge with M-14 Rifle Bar and M-16 Rifle Bar; and the Overseas Bar. He was employed as a millright at Republic Technology Steel. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst.

Survivors include his wife of eleven years, Caterina "Cathy" (nee CiCi) Chermansky; sons, Joseph Robert Jr. and Robert Joseph both at home, his mother Ethel (nee Dubovsky) Chermansky; his brothers John Chermansky of Bainbridge and Joseph Chermansky, Jr., of Parma; his sisters Marianne Rose of Dever, CO; Rose Greenwald of Eastlake and Veronica Chermansky of Cleveland.

He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Chermansky.

Friends may call Tuesday, December 11, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral Services with full military honors by the Amherst Veterans' Military Honor Guard will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Dr., Amherst with Rev. Fr. Lawrence Martello, pastor officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park.
