Robert H. Ehrman, 77, World War II Medal Recipient

Robert H. Ehrman, died Friday, December 14, 2001 at Amherst Hostpital following a brief illness. He was born on June 8, 1924 in Elyria, Ohio and attended Marion L. Steele High School.

He went on to serve as a Tec 4 in the United States Army and was attached to the 1481st Engineer Maintenance Company in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II. He was the recipient of the European-African-Middle-Eastern Service Medal with one Bronze Star, as well as the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.

Mr. Ehrman was employed as a machinist with the U.S. Steel's Lorain Works retiring in 1982 following 38 years of service.

An avid gardener, he was a member of United Steelworkers Local 1104, Amvets Post # 47 of Lorain, and the Alliance of Transylvania Saxon of Cleveland.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years: Emily(nee Yakovich), 2 nieces and 4 nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: George and Hannah (nee Britz) Ehrman, by brothers: George and William, and by a sister: Marjorie Kirschner.

Graveside services for the family were held Tuesday December 18th in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township. The Rev. Kevin Saylor, pastor of Zion Lutheran Church (Lorain) officiated.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel-Lorain.
