Jennifer Lynn Gargasz, 20, OSU Student

Jennifer Lynn Gargasz, 20 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away, December 15, 2001 at University Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Born January 27, 1981 in Altus, OK, she lived and was raised primarily in Amherst and graduated from Amherst High School in the class of 1999 graduating 15th in her class.

Jennifer attended Ohio State University in their honors program. She loved school and was a member of the Amherst Marching Band Flag Corp and Amherst High School's National Honor Society. She was a member of Old Stone United Methodist Church, Amherst. She loved the ocean and dolphins.

Survivors include, parents, mother and step father William and Cindy Ritzrow of Amherst, her father and step mother, John and Cindy Gargasz of Lorain; her brother, Nick Gargasz of Amherst; her step brothers Aaron Ritzrow of TN, Joe Hummel of Lorain and Brian Stoll of Lorain. Paternal Grandfather, Edmund E. Gargasz of Lorain, Maternal Grandmother, Lois Boesel of Amherst; many aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by Paternal Grandmother Ann (nee: Urban) Gargasz; her step-paternal Grandfather Nelson W. Ritzrow; her step-paternal Grandmother Mary (nee: Socotch) Ritzrow; and her maternal Grandfather William Boesel.

Friends may call Tuesday, December 18, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 272 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 19, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Peter Kerlin, pastor of Old Stone United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Crownhill Cemetery, Amherst.
