Rosemary "Rosie" D. Zocchi, 78, Accomplished Seamstress
Rosemary "Rosie" D. Zocchi, (nee Kubinski), of Lorain, died Saturday in the emergency room of Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center - West following a brief illness. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, she had been a resident of Lorain for the past 59 years coming from Sheffield Village.Mrs. Zocchi was employed in the meat department of Fisher-Fazio's retiring in 1970 from the West 21st Street Store in Lorain. She had previously been employed as a seamstress for the Weitz Company as well as the Joseph and Feiss Company both formerly of Lorain.
A parishoner of the Catholic Church of St. Peter (Lorain), she was a member of the Ladies Auzilary of Italian-American Veterans Post # 1 (Lorain), the Laides Auxilary of Amherst Eagles Aerie # 1442, and was a social member of V.F.W. Post # 1079 of Elyria. An accomplished seamstress, she specialized in making clothes for Barbie Dolls. Additional interests included crocheting and dancing.
She is survived by her son: Donald Zocchi of Beaverton, Oregon, daughters: Phyllis Cullen-Marques and Jaque Urban both of Lorain, and Cindy Zocchi of Ashland, Ohio, 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, sisters: Mildred Triplett of Long Beach, California and Victoria Gregor of Mentor, Ohio, and by her brother: Daniel Michaels of Cleveland. She was preceded in death by her husband: Leo Zocchi in 1988, and by a sister: Frances Kubinski.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway - Lorain. Funeral services will be Wednesday beginning at 9:30 in the funeral chapel and will be followed by her funeral mass at 10:00 a.m.in the Catholic Church of St. Peter - 3501 Oberlin Avenue - Lorain. The Rev. Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery - Lorain.
