Jean L. Metzger, 78, Born in Lakewood
Jean M. Metzger, (nee Lutz), died Sunday at Amherst Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness. She was born in Lakewood, Ohio and had been a Sheffield Lake resident since 1956.Mrs. Metzger had been employed for many years as a clerk with the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company. She had previously been employed as a sales associate for the Brown - Pleasant Florists of Lakewood.
A member of the Avon Lake United Church of Christ Congregational, she was also a member of Rocky River Lodge # 517 - Order of the Easter Star. Her hobbies included gardening, travel, and roller-skating.
Survivors include her sons: Dale and Jay of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her husband: Kenneth in 1998, by her parents: Bert and Ruth (nee Sherwood) Lutz, by her stepmother: Ethel Slaker, by sisters: Vera Kreiner and Beatrice Turner and by a brother: Gilbert.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway - Lorain. Funeral Services will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel with the Rev. William Tumbleson officiating. Burial will follow in Alger Cemetery - Cleveland.
